The Hetherley team is made up of exceptional individuals with first-hand experience in hotel ownership and investment, asset management and hotel operations management. Senior Directors of the firm collectively bring more than 60 years’ combined experience in the hotel industry to bear on every hotel investment decision. This experience underpins our daily business practices, acquisition due diligence processes and investment strategy.
Charles formed Hetherley Capital Partners in 2012. He has more than 15 years’ experience in hotel real estate investment, finance, hotel operations and development as well as hotel asset management and business strategy.
As principal, Charles overseas the Hetherley team in all aspects of the business, including deal origination, investment analysis and asset management of the existing portfolio. Charles heads up investor relations for Hetherley and acts as the primary point of contact for all strategic partners of the business. He also takes a leading role in business development, with a particular focus on expanding Hetherley’s investor base through corporate JV partnerships.
Prior to establishing Hetherley, Charles spent 10 years advising private and corporate investors in hotel investment, development and feasibility with TRI Consulting (acquired by CBRE Hotels). In that time he built up a detailed understanding of the UK and Irish hotel markets. He is a regular contributor to Pan-European hotel industry conferences and travels extensively assessing investment opportunities for Hetherley and its capital partners.
Charles received his BSc (Hons) undergraduate degree from Surrey University in 2002. He is married with three children and enjoys most sports that keep him fit and active. He is a regular charitable donor and has undertaken a number of challenges raising money for selected charities including GAIN, Cancer Research UK and MIND.
Julian joined Hetherley Capital Partners in 2016 bringing with him over 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry as hotel owner, operator, shareholder and investor.
Julian heads up Hetherley asset management, working closely with our capital partners and hotel management teams to maximize operational profitability and investor returns. He also works closely with the operations team on Hetherley managed assets, assisting with operational policies and procedures, implementation of business growth strategies and overseeing delivery of capital investment projects
Prior to joining Hetherley, Julian spent 14 years as Managing Director of Compass Hotels Limited where he was tasked with delivering Board agreed strategy, recruitment of hotel General Managers, strategic planning for the hotels across all facets of the business, capital investment programs, ensuring legislative compliance and ultimately maximizing shareholder value in both the owned and managed assets. He was also directly involved with the acquisition and disposition of assets in the portfolio.
Julian has an MBA from Oxford Brookes University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality. He is married with two children and has a passion for DIY and gardening; it is claimed that there is one more London Marathon left in him but it is struggling to get out! He is treasurer of his thriving local pre-school and has added his support to several local charitable societies within his home village.
John Mauchline joined Hetherley Capital Partners in the summer of 2017 as an associate. With experience spanning three decades he has worked in a variety of national and international organisations gaining further experience overseas.
As a Financial Director, John was part of the senior team for the opening and business development of a new 240 bedroom, 4-Star City Centre Hotel in Edinburgh. John spent a very successful and rewarding 12-years with Crieff Hydro Limited as their Financial Director.
In 2011 he was awarded Fellowship status with CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) in recognition of the breadth and depth of his financial, accounting and strategic management experience.
Out with his professional life John is a dedicated family man, with a passion for the outdoors. A keen salmon and trout fisherman, leisure skier and passionate about the beautiful countryside around his home in Crieff. John is Honorary Treasurer for Friends of Innerpeffray Library (Scotland’s oldest public lending Library) and can still raise funds for charity by running the occasional 10K ‘fun’ run.
Fredrik joined Hetherley Capital Partners in 2016. He has diverse experience across hotel operations, asset management, data analytics, feasibility and valuations.
As an analyst Fredrik is involved in the asset management, oversight and reporting on the existing investments, monitoring key trends in the portfolio and assisting in the execution of business development opportunities. On the investment side, he assists in evaluating new investment opportunities and target acquisitions for Hetherley.
Prior to joining Hetherley, Fredrik worked in real estate consulting with a focus on hotel feasibility and valuations carrying out assignments across the Asia Pacific region. He has held various operational positions in China, Hong Kong, Sweden, Italy and Switzerland. He speaks fluent Swedish, French and English.
Fredrik is a graduate of Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne where he studied International Hospitality Management. He completed is bachelor project in big data analytics analysing over 1.2 million lines of transaction data and developing of an interactive KPI dashboard for independent restauranteurs. He is currently pursuing the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) qualification.
Jayne joined Hetherley Capital Partners in 2018 as an Associate Director with overall responsibility for Revenue Management across the portfolio. An experienced, multi-property, hotel professional, Jayne has nearly 20 years’ experience in hotel revenue management with a proven track record increasing RevPAR and profit growth across a wide variety of branded and unbranded hotels in the UK.
Prior to joining Hetherley, Jayne was Group Revenue Manager for Portland Hotels for 8 years with overall responsibility for all aspects of revenue management across the portfolio. Jayne has experience delivering complex hotel revenue management and room inventory pricing strategies, implementing PMS, CM and CRS systems across hotel portfolios and optimizing profit performance through effective yield management. Prior to Portland Hotels, Jayne held various senior revenue management and hotel operations positions with IHG (Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express particularly), Chardon Hotels and Hilton.
Jayne is a Certified Associate Member of HOSPA in Revenue Management having qualified from Oxford Brookes University in 2014. In her spare time she enjoys skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Jayne is also a passionate adventurer, travelling as often as she can, even if it’s just a weekend away exploring her beloved Scotland in her campervan.
